The 2017 Parade Grand Marshal is
Mr. Kenneth Mitchell
and Mrs. Jane Mitchell
The Mitchells were chosen this year because of all the work the two of them have contributed to the '89er Event over the past years.
At our last meeting, Kenneth told us that he is now 89 years old and has been at every Oklahoma '89er Event even though he might only have been one year old at his first parade.
Kenneth has been our "Go To" emissary selling tickets to the Chuck Wagon Dinner for many years.
Jane has done all the beautiful lettering on the placards placed on floats and vehicles used during the Parade.
These two individuals have shared their pride in our community and freely offered their talents. We will be forever in their debt. They are what the
Oklahoma '89er Celebration
represents. Thank you both.

We are honored for 2017

colleges were beginning to integrate African-Americans into athletics.
He joined the Globetrotters in 1961 and stayed with the team until 1985.
This past January 31, the Globetrotters retired his Jersey.
The community and State are
looking forward to welcoming him
